Alison dos Santos wins Diamond League title for 3rd time
Alison dos Santos, known as Piu, won the Diamond League title – the premier track-and-field circuit – in the 400-meter hurdles for the third time in his career. The Brazilian won Saturday’s (Sep. 5) race – which closed out the Brussels leg, in Belgium, the last one of the season – by a wide margin, with 46.70 seconds. Matheus Lima finished third with a time of 48.18 seconds. American Trevor Bassitt took the silver (48.03 seconds). Alison won all six 400-meter hurdles races he competed in on the circuit in 2026 – in addition to finishing the Diamond League in first place in Belgium, he also won in Stockholm, Sweden; Zurich, Switzerland; Xiamen, China; Oslo, Norway; and Silesia, Poland. The only stage the hurdler did not compete in was the London leg in July. Piu already had two Diamond League titles, from 2022 and 2024.
