Brazil has 158.7 million eligible voters for the October election

Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court announced on Monday (Jul. 20) that 158,745,463 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the October presidential elections. The court recorded an increase of 2,291,452 (1.46%) voters from the 2022 election. The second round is scheduled for October 25 and may take place for the offices of governor and president. Voters will return to the polls if no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the valid votes – excluding blank and invalid ballots – in the first round. According to data from the court, the North of Brazil saw the largest increase in the number of voters compared to the last presidential election. There was an increase of 548,944 voters, representing a 4.37% rise in the regional electorate. In 2022, 12,560,410 people were eligible to vote. This year, that number stands at 13,109,354. Overseas The overseas electorate grew by 31.82 percent. The number of Brazilians living abroad rose from 697,078 to 918,876. Those living abroad may only vote for president.
