Ludens Joins the F.C.Real Bristol Roster for Kojima Productions’ 10th Birthday
SummarySOPH.’s F.C.Real Bristol has teamed up with Kojima Productions on a collection marking the game studio’s 10th anniversaryEvery piece carries designs inspired by Ludens, the symbol character of Hideo Kojima’s independent studioThe collaboration also celebrates “BEYOND THE STRAND,” Kojima Productions’ anniversary exhibition in TokyoF.C.Real Bristol and Kojima Productions have joined forces on a collaborative collection built around Ludens, the studio’s signature character, to mark a decade since Hideo Kojima launched the independent game developer in 2015. The capsule doubles as a celebration of “BEYOND THE STRAND,” the 10th anniversary exhibition the studio is staging in Tokyo this fall.Ludens sits at the center of the design, giving the collection a single, recognizable visual anchor. Rather than splashing game logos across the lineup, F.C.Real Bristol takes its cues from the studio’s symbol character, the masked, space-suited figure that has fronted Kojima Productions’ branding since its founding, and works those references into each product. The name itself nods to Homo Ludens, Johan Huizinga’s study of humans as playing beings, which ties directly into the philosophy behind the collaboration. The lineup sticks to a strict black-and-white palette and borrows its silhouettes from F.C.Real Bristol’s football training wardrobe. A black track jacket and matching track pants lead the range, each cut with contrasting white side panels printed with “FROM SAPIENS TO LUDENS” on one side and the Kojima Productions wordmark on the other, while the pants add a D-ring at the waist. A hooded black windbreaker carries a barcode graphic on the hood, a reflective-style emblem on the sleeve and “BEWARE OF LOOSE FASTENERS” printed near the hem, all nods to the studio’s sci-fi visual language. Every piece pairs Ludens with F.C.Real Bristol’s diamond Bristol emblem across the chest, placed side by side like club and sponsor crests.Shirting fills out the rest of the collection. A black short-sleeve game shirt is the most kit-like piece, with a large Kojima Productions wordmark across the chest split by a vertical barcode stripe and additional graphics on both sleeves. Short-sleeve and long-sleeve tees arrive in black and white with small chest logos, and the long sleeves carry the same “FROM SAPIENS TO LUDENS” and Kojima Productions text down each arm. A black New Era 9FORTY cap tops off the drop, with an oversized Ludens patch on one front panel, the Bristol emblem on the other and a “FROM SAPIENS TO LUDENS” patch on the side. The anniversary exhibition gives the drop its stage. “BEYOND THE STRAND,” which translates roughly to “a voyage of creation and challenge” in its Japanese subtitle, opens October 31 at Azabudai Hills Gallery in Tokyo’s Minato ward and runs through December 20. The title also echoes the studio’s Death Stranding franchise, the series that defined its first decade. The F.C.Real Bristol x Kojima Productions collection launches in Japan on Saturday, October 31, via the SOPH. ONLINE STORE starting at 12 p.m. JST, and at the “BEYOND THE STRAND” exhibition shop on the same day. Entry to the exhibition shop requires a ticket, and the collection will not be sold at SOPH. retail stores.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
