Presented at Paris Fashion Week under the title “Here and Now,” Miuccia Prada’s latest collection took the building blocks of an everyday wardrobe - sportswear, knitwear, leather, denim and vintage pieces - and pushed them into sharper, more refined territory. Tailored suits, chemisier dresses and embroidered eveningwear appeared alongside these casual staples, not as separate ideas but as part of the same visual language. That friction between polish and practicality became the collection’s defining mood, with clothes constantly shifting between elegant, worn-in, athletic and deliberately unfinished.Much of that tension came through in the way fabrics and familiar silhouettes were treated. Wax-laminated suede was designed to crack and crease with age, giving its surface a weathered quality, while crossed lacing replaced conventional closures across denim, pleated skirts, cocktail dresses and footwear. Elsewhere, satin and gauze were crushed with metal to create permanent folds and texture, and embroidered details typically associated with eveningwear were transplanted onto sportier shapes. Performance jersey was cut into abbreviated tops for layering, silk bows were stripped back to standalone decorative gestures, and geometric prints nodded to earlier Miu Miu collections while adding another layer of visual nostalgia. Rather than presenting a pristine vision of luxury, the clothes often looked handled, altered or caught somewhere in transition.Denim played a particularly important role through a new Wrangler x Miu Miu Upcycled collaboration. Vintage examples of late-20th-century jeans were sourced and reconstructed with the collection’s recurring crossed-lace detailing, extending Miu Miu’s ongoing interest in circular design while making the project feel fully embedded within the runway rather than separate from it. The season also marked the fifth year of Miu Miu’s partnership with New Balance, this time turning to the RC150 racing sneaker. The lightweight model was dismantled and rebuilt in technical mesh, finished with external lace loops and contrast cords loosely knotted around the toe. Its mix of subdued, refined shades and brighter athletic colors echoed the collection’s wider pull between performance dressing and classic elegance.Even the set was conceived with an afterlife in mind: the scenography will serve as the physical foundation for French filmmaker Alice Diop’s “Geste de Consolation,” an interdisciplinary project set to appear at Art Basel Paris 2026.
