Carspreading | An interregnum | Served by Thames Water | Manchesterism | Gransplaining | Cold in YorkshireRe “carspreading” (Opinion, 12 July), my wife and I live in a neighbourhood of houses built just before the second world war, and have watched in horror as models of our favoured cars have increased in size. Having chosen to keep our Mini Cooper and VW Polo – both of 2016 vintage – I believe we are the only people in the locality who store both cars in the garage overnight.John PyeSouthampton• A “period between reigns” (Quick crossword, 13 July) is an interregnum, not a regency as your solution has it.
