Rep. Subramanyam: Data Centers Need Community Buy-In
Democratic Representative Suhas Subramanyam of Virginia says he opposes more data centers in his district, arguing that development has created power and environmental problems and driven up some residents' utility bills. Subramanyam calls for a national strategy to site data centers where sufficient power can be provided without negatively affecting surrounding communities and expresses skepticism about "bring your own power" proposals that rely on diesel backup generators. He says the US should remain a leader in AI, but communities should not have to shoulder the costs of the infrastructure needed to power it. He speaks with Kailey Leinz on the late edition of Bloomberg's "Balance of Power." (Source: Bloomberg)
