Salehe Bembury x StudioPROBA Returns With "Soft Imprints" Pillows & Rugs
SummaryStudioPROBA and Salehe Bembury are releasing "Soft Imprints," a highly limited collection of 200 throw pillows and 80 rugs. These functional home pieces creatively combine Bembury’s signature tactile fingerprint motif with Proba’s bold, colorful abstract shapes. The standout collaboration between StudioPROBA and Salehe Bembury, which began in 2021, is officially back and even bigger. Expanding on the concept of the 2021 “Absorbed Language” line for a new collection, “Soft Imprints,” the home textiles range explores the intersection of pattern, material, and form. The highly limited release (200 pillows, 80 rugs) combines Alex Proba’s abstract technicolor compositions with Bembury’s signature fingerprint motif seen in products like the Crocs Pollex Clog and the PUMA Vellum sneaker. With collectible pieces including two pillow styles and two rug designs, each exists as a translation of Bembury and Proba’s universes, manifesting in a rhythm of repetition, texture, and color. Across the throw pillows and rugs, a consistent color story, driven by bright jewel tones, is broken down into distinct designs. In one rug, fingerprint-like stripes intersect as a bricolage bursting with color, while in another, rounded, circular shapes intersect against a dark blue backdrop. The pillows take these motifs and turn them up a notch, tufting different areas into tactile shapes.Central to the two designers' collaboration is their shared exploration of instinct, playfulness, and adventurous creation: the colorful pieces bridge both Bembury’s tactile, topographic aesthetic and Proba’s bold emotion-driven works. While being functional objects for the home, the collection is described as a medium for spatial storytelling, “where pattern becomes a record of movement and form becomes a carrier of feeling.”The Studio PROBA x Salehe Bembury 2026 collection will be available in limited quantities through both artists’ platforms.
