Space Debris Would Keep Growing Without New Launches

Stopping every rocket launch tomorrow would not stop the space debris problem. The European Space Agency's (ESA) newly published Annual Space Environment Report modeled a scenario with no further launches after 2025 and found that Low Earth Orbit debris would still be expected to grow as existing objects collide and generate new fragments.
